Delhi is one of the biggest cities in India with a population of over 26 million. With a number of world-class educational institutes and universities, it has become a renowned education hub.
The government of Delhi has been successful in establishing a prominent higher education system. It has also succeeded in attracting the best students. For example, the National Law School of India is the premier law school in the country.
In addition, the city has a slew of engineering institutions and institutes of higher learning. Some of these include the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, the National Institute of Technology Delhi, and the Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi.
The university has been successful in attracting a high-quality faculty and students, as well as in providing an engaging extra-curricular environment. To this end, Delhi University has established a number of new centers for learning. These include the Delhi School of Climate Change & Sustainability, the Delhi School of Public Policy & Governance, the Delhi School of Journalism, and the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development.
Other major institutions of higher education in Delhi are the Institute of Foreign Trade, the National Law School of India, the Indian Institute of Technology, and the Netaji Subhas University of Technology. These institutions have a combined intake of over a hundred thousand students.
The Delhi government has also introduced a number of schemes to boost the city’s higher education system. In particular, the Department of Higher Education releases a grant in aid to 16 colleges, to the extent of up to fifty per cent of their non-recurring expenses.
