Studying abroad opens a world of exciting possibilities: superior education, cultural experience and enhanced career prospects. However, before embarking on this adventure it’s important to plan and take careful consideration before embarking. From choosing where you want to study to applying to universities abroad; each step can seem daunting but if taken step-by-step it becomes quite straightforward.
Before making your choice, decide where and what subject to study. After making that decision, begin doing research – online resources as well as guidance cells at schools can provide helpful resources. Keep an eye out for factors like cost of living and whether the university offers your desired field of study.
Once you’ve narrowed down your choices, create a shortlist of universities you feel best fits with you and narrow your research and preparation efforts accordingly. Make sure to also review any entry requirements – many universities require test scores, specific certificates or letters of recommendation (LORs).
If you don’t already have LORs in place, or at least by your application deadline, it is essential that you obtain at least three. LORs serve to demonstrate your serious and committed approach and it would be wise to secure them from individuals with firsthand knowledge of your academic abilities – for instance past employers or teachers.
Proof that you have enough funds to cover tuition fees and living expenses while studying can be provided through various means, such as bank statements, scholarships applications or loans. It would also help if all your documents could be stored together – this makes the submission of required documents easier at each university.
Additionally, you will require a valid passport before starting the application process – something which should be addressed as early as possible, since receiving one could take months!
After collecting all your documentation, it’s time to begin the application process. You will need to submit academic transcripts, SOPs and LORs as well as identification documents and test results – be sure to follow application guidelines closely; errors could prove costly! It is also advisable to start early – universities often fill up quickly as soon as applications come in; getting in early will give you your best chance of success and certain countries have specific deadlines you must abide by so be aware!
