Requirements For New Zealand Student Visa

Before applying for your New Zealand student visa, there are a few requirements you should keep in mind. These should help to ensure your application is complete and contains all of the necessary documentation. Among them is making sure your passport does not expire within three months from when your visa starts; you also should have enough money saved up for tuition fees and living costs while studying there; in addition to this you will also need medical and police clearance certificates from regional pass offices.

Proof of payment of tuition fees and financial undertaking from anyone paying them, should they cover your tuition, housing costs and living expenses while in New Zealand. In addition, Immigration New Zealand recommends you seek a health and character assessment by an approved doctor and obtain a police clearance certificate from either your regional passport office or deputy commissioner of police before leaving home.

Fee paying student visa applicants may work up to 20 hours each week during term time and unlimited amounts during university holidays, provided their qualification falls on New Zealand’s long-term skill shortage list. Students studying towards such qualifications may even qualify for post-completion work visa applications after completion of studies.
