Journalism students tend to be ambitious, inquisitive, and passionate – they’re also great travellers! A study abroad experience offers journalism students an invaluable opportunity to broaden their perspectives of world culture while sharing essential data across borders.
An exciting study abroad program in Paris gives you the chance to work directly with local journalists and experts from the global media industry, to gain an appreciation of journalism’s role in contributing to a more peaceful and equitable society. San Francisco State has partnered with ieiMedia in providing this program open to both JMC majors and minors.
Journalism provides an exceptional opportunity to examine the cultural context of news. You’ll see that opinions differ regarding what makes good journalism, while developing an appreciation for presenting facts to an international audience in an accessible fashion.
Many of our partner universities provide courses that count toward your journalism major, and the Global Programs website lists all available journalism courses at each study away site (specifically the “Academics” section of each program). Please be aware that some courses cross-list with other departments if registration proves challenging; additionally, certain programs may require you to have completed certain prerequisites in order to enroll; please consult your advisor for more details.
