The Institute of Asian Studies at CUNY

The Institute of Asian Studies fosters research on people, languages, cultures and countries of Asia through an array of activities including lecture series and conference forums; community forums; cinema series; literary/art journal publication and an extensive website. Utilizing CUNY’s vast resources it applies its focus on Asia to world politics through an expansive network of scholars at 23 colleges citywide.

The Journal of Asian Studies is an international scholarly publication that publishes broad comparative and transnational studies, essays resulting from fine-grained historical, cultural, political, or literary research and interpretation, clusters of papers on particular themes or topics as well as broad comparative and transnational reviews. Published annually by the Association for Asian Studies with Duke University Press as its distributor; every February May August and November AAS members receive both print and online versions as part of membership benefits.

At its heart lies an innovative BA in Global Asia Studies program.
